Evolutionary Astrology (EA) offers tremendous insights into where your Soul has been, your current life purpose, and ultimately where your Soul is going. In much of traditional astrology, the sun, moon, ascendant, and planets along with the aspects are emphasized.
In EA the Soul’s evolutionary direction is the foundation for all the other aspects ,signs and houses, they all resolve around the Soul’s evolutionary direction. EA offers the abulity to read a chart with crstal clear clarity. By diving deeper and uncovering the Soul’s intentions, one can uncover past dynamics, which may have prevented optimal growth, joy. and potential.
The focal point in Evolutionary Astrology, therefore, is the position of Pluto, the Soul. It is vitally important to understand where the Soul has been, for just as with a book, you do not read the last chapter first.
Evolutionary Astrology will always bring great clarity and understanding in explaining certain tendencies and attractions. If something is not working in your life, it may continue to express itself as a repeating theme until the lesson is learned and the pattern is finally broken.

Here are some key concepts and guiding principles for EA chart interpretation.
- The house and sign position of Pluto in your chart describes the desires that drove you (in your past lives and act as fallback behavior in this life) because of the situations described by the South Node and its planetary ruler.
- Pluto’s polarity point (the house and sign position directly opposite Pluto) represents the desires that need to be developed through your North Node and its planetary ruler along with transforming the natal moon into a higher expression.
- Because Pluto represents the subconscious, your Mars placement describes how Pluto’s desires will be consciously acted out. The house position of mars will show the main area of life where the evolutionary pressure will play out.
- The more aspects from Pluto to personal planets in any chart, both flowing and challenging aspects the more the life will reflect a lot of evolutionary pressure to evolve that particular planets theme.
eg: If mercury is aspected with Pluto there will be an evolutionary pressure to evolve the mental thinking faculty. The fewer personal planet aspects there are to Pluto in a chart the more stable the life will be…. it often reflects a time in the soul’s evolutionary journey where it is taking a holiday so to speak. This is not an absolute rule as each chart will be unique.
